Led by Roberta Bellekom and formed in 2015, Shoot First Theatre is a young company dedicated to creating exciting, playful new works with strong story telling at their core. With a strong base in devising and physical comedy and a love of puppetry and powerful musical scores we aim to make theatre we are passionate about. Our work comes from the stories that excite us and capture our imaginations and many of our members are graduates from East 15 Drama School.

Roberta has recently designed, created and operated puppets for Dolls In Amber’s acclaimed Villain Interrupted at the Ecetera Theatre, London.  This followed an extensive tour in David Walliam’s Awful Auntie playing the West End and major theatres throughout the UK. Prior to that she appeared in a one-woman musical, No Finer Life, (The Pleasance and touring, also BBC Radio 4 and World Service), written by The Archers’ Graham Harvey. Her other credits include Miranda in The Tempest and in productions of Animal Farm, Waiting for Godot, One Way, a play she also wrote, and as Grace in Vaughn Williams, for BBC Radio 3. She is a veteran of the Edinburgh Fringe with her one-woman show, Last Petal Falling. A member of several improvisation companies, she is also a qualified stage combat fighter.
